POSITION TITLE:  Federal Grant Funded Tutor

(This position is through the end of the 2023-2024 school year)

 

EXPERIENCE: Prior teaching experience is preferred.

 

REPORTS TO:   Building Principal     

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:   Two-Three days/Week 

 

  1. Position Summary: In response to students’ learning loss from the COVID-19 pandemic, tutors will support students’ academic growth and development by engaging in individual and group interventions using evidence-based instructional methods, strategies, and techniques. This position is being funded through June 30, 2024 by a grant through ESSER III and ARP - Addressing Unfinished Learning Grant.


    TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Collaborate with teachers in implementing classroom-based interventions
    2. Use data to determine areas of need based on universal screeners, benchmark assessments, and diagnostic skills         assessments
    3. Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, particularly families, regarding student progress toward intervention and grade level skills and standards
    4. Plan and implement appropriate small group instruction daily using effective instructional techniques in support of the achievement of intervention goals
    5. Work cooperatively with district and building-level staff to support academic progress
    6. Perform other duties specified above and any other related duties assigned by supervisor

     

    SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
    1. Demonstrated knowledge and skill in research and evidence-based instructional practices related to intervention
    2. Effective organizational skills regarding the utilization of time, space, materials, and equipment for instruction
    3. Effective verbal and written communication
    4. Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in reading and math, technology integration, and positive classroom environments
    5. Prior teaching experience with teacher licensure is preferred.

This position will be funded contingent on the availabilty and release of Federal funds awarded to Northumberland County Public Schools through the ARP Act ESSER III School Division Awards for Addressing Unfinished Learning, Before and After  School Programs, and Summer Programs.

 

In accordance with Division H, Title V, Section 505 of Public Law 113-76. Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2014, the following statements are provided. 

 

1. 100% of the total costs of this position will be financed with Federal funding;
2. Up to $10,000 (daily rate) of Federal funds will be used for this position; and
3. 0% and $0.00 costs of this position will be financed by non-governmental sources.
